Hiedanrannan Kehitys Oy – Planning data management

Hiedanranta is a new district to be built in Tampere, Finland. The new residential and multi-use area is one of the largest and most interesting urban development projects in Finland. The district, to be built on an old industrial area by the Näsijärvi lakeside, is planned to host over 20 000 new inhabitants in the coming decades. The area has been long in the planning phase, currently going through detailed planning as well as foundational and infrastructure constructions.

Planning and scheduling of construction, and monitoring of the area’s development both require well planned and executed data management. Concerning the nature of the work that is being done in such urban development projects, spatial data is a key component in data management and visualizations, especially whenever one wants to analyse any phenomena on maps.

The collaboration between Ubigu and the area’s project development organization Hiedanrannan Kehitys begun in spring 2024. The aim of our collaboration is to ensure comprehensive data management throughout the planning and development phases, utilizing best geospatial practices.

Hiedanranta is like a small new town being built within Tampere from the ground up. This provides an excellent opportunity also for innovative data governance, management, and utilization. Ubigu’s experience as a partner for large cities in data governance and management and geospatial experts creates an excellent foundation for Hiedanranta’s planning to be timely and predictable.
