Defining and developing a new built environment information system
Land use planning and construction are undergoing a major transformation in Finland, with many aspects from legislation to processes and information systems changing. Ubigu has been a partner of the Ministry of the Environment and the Finnish Environment Institute since 2018, first defining the vision, roadmap, overall architecture, and national interoperability for a new era of information management in the context of the built environment.

In 2021-2022, Ubigu, together with its partners Ramboll Finland, Gofore and Gravicon, had a significant role in defining the specifications for the new national information system called the Built environment information system. The actual implementation work for this new system (“Ryhti”) is currently underway, which we are working on together with Solita and Sitowise.
Ubigu’s experts have been responsible for the development of the system, including the main architecture and design, defining land use related components and data architecture, web map and other user interface development, and accessibility design, and in connection with these, also for a significant amount of stakeholder collaboration.
